Transceiver HF - Transworld PRC1099
"During the years 1993 - 2000, lightweight satellite phones were not yet available. Therefore, the airborne missions in South Sudan and Somalia used this type of transceiver (model PRC 1099) to contact their respective bases in Lokichokio and Mogadishu. Unfortunately, it was a military style transceiver which was not equipped with a selective calling device compatible with our base stations.
A radio operator was therefore essential.
This model was replaced in 2000 by the Q-MAC, with its “beauty-case” and its selective appeal."
